Croatia has a well established and popular wine industry with a rich history of making a variety of quality wines. In fact there are so many vineyards in Croatia that Croatia is truly a land of vineyards. There are famous coastal wineries such as Dingač Vineyards, pictured below, with vineyards on slopes several hundred meters high dropping down to the blue sea below. This contrasts well to the inland vineyards such as Štrigova Vineyards where, according to tradition, is where the Romans planted their first vines on its picturesque rolling hills.
